RG178 is an excellent choice for high-frequency signal transmission (up to approximately 3-6 GHz) in applications where space and weight are extremely limited. Its ultra-fine diameter and lightweight are its biggest advantages, but it should be noted that its attenuation is relatively high (especially at higher frequencies), and the minimum bending radius requirement must be strictly followed when using it.

Comparison between RG178 and other models:
Thinner than RG174: The outer diameter of RG174 is about 2.8mm, thicker than RG178, but the attenuation of RG174 at the same frequency is usually slightly lower than RG178 (the conductor is thicker).
Thinner and softer than RG316: RG316 has an outer diameter of about 2.6mm and a structure closer to semi-rigid (usually with aluminum foil+braided layer), slightly harder than RG178, and slightly lower attenuation than RG178.
Slightly higher attenuation than RG188: RG188 has an outer diameter very close to RG178 (about 1.9mm), but typically uses better materials and structures (such as solid center conductors, higher density shielding), resulting in lower attenuation than RG178 at the same frequency, better performance, and higher cost.
